Stamford Endowed Schools Foundation

I have recently signed up to be a Foundation Partner for The new Stamford Endowed Schools’ Foundation Privilege Card.

A little bit about the Foundation - The Foundation is a charitable body and aims to raise funds in order to support the Stamford Endowed Schools and their pupils. The funds raised through the foundation will be used for the benefit of children from the local community. And that makes this a very special project for me. The Bursaries are there to provide opportunities for young people from less affluent backgrounds to fulfil their potential in sports, music, science, languages and in the arts.

The new Stamford Endowed Schools’ Foundation Privilege Card has been set up to raise funds for the Foundation.

Some of the best retail outlets and restaurants in Stamford have lent their support to the Foundation Privilege Card and
by joining in this very worthwhile programme that supports the valuable work of the Foundation, you will save at least 10% every time you spend with one of the Foundation Partners. Here are some of the local businesses who have signed up to be Foundation Partners

Jewellery By Shalini and SDSA Motorcycle Couriers are proud to be part of this initiative and we are now Foundation Partners.

I am looking forward to the Lunchtime Reception and Presentation on the vision for the Future of the Stamford Endowed Schools later today and will report back on the information I get from there. If you are in the local area and would like to benefit from the fantastic offers from local shops, while supporting a worthwhile cause do apply for a privilege card. Its your way of helping a young person create a better future for themselves and for our world.

7th Bead Soup Party: Shalini's Sparkly Serving Revealed!

So the day is finally here! Its PARTY TIME! My parties are always "Bring a Bottle" kinds so help yourself to your favourite tipple and enjoy! Part 1: This is my first entry into the world of Bead Soups. Be gentle lovely people... It all started when I signed up for the Pretty Things 7th Bead Soup Blog party on 26 January. I have since blogged a bit about it. My Partner Sarah Goode from Pookledo sent me a lovely stash of shiny things! A handful of Swarovski disc crystals / Some metal glitterballs in various sizes / A length of silver plated chain / Some Swarovski glass pearls / a magnetic glitterball clasp  Yummy I hear you say! It is! But apart from the silver chain these are things I have NEVER worked with before! My pieces tend to have a lot of colour in them! And here I am looking at lots of grey (OK shiny silvery grey but it is shades of grey, maybe not quite 50 but near enough!) HELP! This is totally out of my comfort zone! You set me a chal...

Beadsoup Blog Party: Shalini's Soup is Served! Finally!

The chef is a lazy sod but I do hope the servings have been worth waiting for? For a while it was Will she, Won't she, Can She?  Yes she can! :-) I didn't get to use any fancy tools like the torch, saw, drill or add ingredients like solder but I did what I could with the lovely ingredients and I think they did not need any extra embellishments to be honest! The fantastic Bead soup from my partner  Susan McClelland  had enough ingredients in it to just add a bit of wire, a few findings to create this! The main piece! Sari Silk Ribbon, Ceramic Pendant Focal, Hand etched Copper Clasp, handmade glazed ceramic beads and plenty of copper wire. All joined together with my trademark spiral links. YES Fabric! Not really my friend! But it was too beautiful not to use! Thanks for the challenge Susan, I quite enjoyed playing with the sari silk to make it part of the pendant. Tools: My hands, Flat and round nose pliers and dodgy eyes....

7th Bead Soup Party: Meet My Partner Sarah Goode

The 7th Bead Soup Blog Party is now in full swing and I guess there is a lot of soup making going on amongst beaders and jewellery makers all around the world :-) There are hundreds of participants! Pookledo  on Facebook My Soup partner is Sarah Goode of  Pookledo from Loughborough. Yes only about 35 miles or so from Stamford! Quite amazing that I get a fairly local partner through a party organised by Lori in USA! Don't you just love the internet? Mixed Media Art Brooch Hopefully there will be an opportunity to meet Sarah at an event or two in the near future. I don't travel too far for my shows but you never know. Sarah might be venturing our way. In fact I have a feeling Sarah and I have been in touch before as her name sounds VERY familiar. Perhaps it was for a Stamford Artisan Guild event. I am sure it will come to me at some point. I am sharing a couple of examples of Sarah's work listed in her Etsy Shop. Lovely aren't they? And S...
