Stamford Dog Show - 13th September 2009

I have agreed to have a craft stall at the Stamford Dog Show being held on the Stamford Meadows on Sunday, 13th September 2009.

The Stamford Dog Show is organised by Trinity Methodist Church, Barn Hill, Stamford Lincs. This is the 5th Annual Dog Show and Children's Pet show. It has always been a family Fun Day out and is very popular with animal lovers, young and old.

And our Friends Tony and Sandra from Pets Korner Stamford are the Main Sponsor for the Dog & Pet Show.

I will display my jewellery there (of course!) but we will also display a range of rough rocks and tumble stones. These are becoming increasingly popular as decorations and also for people who are into crystal healing. And of course my dear friend Amanda of Greensleaves Florist will be sharing the stand with me with her range of Fresh flower Bunches, Bouquets, Flower arrangements and Silk Flower displays. Amanda also makes greeting cards for all occasions.

From previous experience at craft fairs and family fun days I have learned one very important lesson, I must have jewellery on display which would fit a child's Pocket money budget. Children often get a little pocket money on days like this to spend on treats, rides etc. and some of them like to occasionally buy a little gift for mum or dad. How Sweet! There will be bracelets, necklaces and rings for little girls and also simple jewellery kids could get as a present for mum. All made from Shell, Pearl and Gemstone beads of course. And little boys have a fascination for rough rocks so there will be something for them too!

If you are in the area do come and join the fun. Have a look at the Stamford Dog Show Website for more details.

  1. It all sounds like this goofy place. At Squaw Valley we have a similar event called Art Bark. My wife Sue is always invited to set up a booth and sell her quilts. She makes a series of hanging dog quilts. At this event you have to have something animal related. Good luck there in Stamford.

UK Inspiration Challenge... "Walk On..."

I came across ArtisanWhimsy on Facebook through MyBeadTherpay ’s Page (I follow Heidi’s work with a passion because she has inspired me to try so many new things and its great to see how wonderfully her work has progressed in the 2 odd years we've been talking bling with each other!) And right there on the front page of the forum was this little banner which took me to a page which said: “Can you create a piece of jewellery or a jewellery component inspired by where the UK Blog team live?” The choices were Dorset / Edinburgh / Bath / The Isle of Wight / Liverpool / Southampton and this is what the description said about Liverpool : image courtesy Wikipedia “ Liverpool  is world-famous as the home of The Beatles, but is also well known for football, the Scouse (now there's a term for you non-Brits to look up!) sense of humour and of course, the shipping port and the River Mersey” The description and for various other reasons Liverpool it had t...

Beadsoup Blog Party: Shalini's Soup is Served! Finally!

The chef is a lazy sod but I do hope the servings have been worth waiting for? For a while it was Will she, Won't she, Can She?  Yes she can! :-) I didn't get to use any fancy tools like the torch, saw, drill or add ingredients like solder but I did what I could with the lovely ingredients and I think they did not need any extra embellishments to be honest! The fantastic Bead soup from my partner  Susan McClelland  had enough ingredients in it to just add a bit of wire, a few findings to create this! The main piece! Sari Silk Ribbon, Ceramic Pendant Focal, Hand etched Copper Clasp, handmade glazed ceramic beads and plenty of copper wire. All joined together with my trademark spiral links. YES Fabric! Not really my friend! But it was too beautiful not to use! Thanks for the challenge Susan, I quite enjoyed playing with the sari silk to make it part of the pendant. Tools: My hands, Flat and round nose pliers and dodgy eyes....

Recycled Bead Necklaces

While going through my hoarded stash of beads, wire and all kinds of jewellery making bits for the Bead Hoarders Blog hop I came across a big bag of beads, mostly wooden but a few glass ones thrown in as well! My friend Carol gave me these beads. I don’t know if they were just beads she had bought or if they have been in a necklace before but she said she was sure I would find some use for them. This was many months ago! Anyway... I have finally made something with the recycled beads. They have been thoroughly cleaned and washed and I think they look nice on adjustable waxed cotton cord. I also used wire which was left over from previous projects where possible. Some extra components I made, or occasionally when it got bent out of shape or scratched and I just put it aside instead of repairing it. Hoarder that I am I rarely throw things away! :-) These necklaces are available to buy in my on-line shop . If you have old beads from a broken necklace, or a necklace you are bored...
